overall great for just a starter the only thing that bothers me is that one synth that comes every once in awhile it somehow doesnt fit also the ending seems kind of bland.

i really havent heard the original but i dont think it follows the beat much and you are right about the trumpet. You should try playing around with the gain some more. This is my advice to you if it works great and if it doesnt oh well.
